Invite-only convenings that bring together government, donors, academia, financial institutions, and entrepreneurial support organizations to co-create policy frameworks for women entrepreneurs in Pakistan.
The WECON 2024 Mumkin Hai Stakeholders Conclave brought together key stakeholders from the Women Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Pakistan — including Academia, Regulatory Authorities, Donor Organizations, Entrepreneurial Support Organizations, Financial Institutions, and women entrepreneurs — to deliberate on the unique challenges faced by women that hinder their ability to start, grow, and sustain their businesses over time, and devise a collaborative framework to address those challenges.
Launched in 2017, the WECON movement by Change Mechanics Pvt. Ltd. has evolved from a one-day conference into an active engagement platform. The 2024 theme, "Mumkin Hai!" (It's Possible), highlights the transformative power of public-private collaborations in improving the lives of millions of Pakistani women.
The goal of the discussions was to collaboratively identify actionable strategies and reach a consensus on recommendations for policy interventions supporting the shared objective of accelerating women entrepreneurship in Pakistan. All findings and recommendations were compiled into a comprehensive policy recommendation document.
Can we afford to deny economic contribution from 52% of Pakistan's population? Women find it extremely difficult to effectively contribute because of patriarchal systems within the economic infrastructure. Pakistan has the lowest number of women entrepreneurs as a percentage of population, even compared with neighbouring countries.
The WECON 22 Mumkin Hai Stakeholders Conclave was jointly hosted by Hashoo Foundation and Change Mechanics Pvt. Ltd., bringing together key ecosystem stakeholders to share best practices and develop a collaborative policy framework.
The Conclave used the World Café Format — a 90-minute co-creation session with three rounds of group work, followed by a consultative plenary to deliberate on a policy framework that enhances cooperation and reduces duplication of resources among stakeholders.
By invitation only — donors, embassies, entrepreneurial support organizations, Women Chambers, relevant Government representatives, and entrepreneurs. The objective was to convene key decision-makers who can support creating a more conducive environment for women entrepreneurs.
WECON partners with government, international organizations, corporates, and development agencies to scale women's entrepreneurship.
